A CONSULTATION on the future of Dorset Council’s Tourist Information Centres (TICs) has been extended until the New Year.

The consultation was originally planned to run until the end of November. However, the national lockdown has led to further travel restrictions and the closure of TIC and library buildings.

Council officials say this has impacted the number of potential visitors at the TICs and limited access to offline copies of the questionnaire.

The consultation covers the centres based in Wareham, Sherborne and Dorchester.

Councillor Jill Haynes, Dorset Council portfolio holder for customer, community and regulatory services, said: “We have rightly extended the consultation period so people can visit their TIC or library to complete the questionnaire when their local centre reopens.

“We are encouraging as many people as possible to complete the survey, so please take a few minutes to do so, either online or by visiting your local TIC or library after lockdown.”

The new deadline for the survey is Sunday January 3.

You can also request it in another format, or by post, by contacting Tracy McGregor on 01305 224458.
