DORSET has recorded 71 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

Data released by the government shows 71 people tested positive for the virus in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on December 4.

Of these 71, 48 tested positive in the BCP Council area, taking the conurbation’s total since the start of the pandemic to 7,353.

In the week leading up to November 29, 332 cases were recorded, giving a rolling infection rate of 84 per 100,000 people.

In the Dorset Council area, 23 people tested positive, taking the total to 3,292 since the start of the pandemic.

There were 164 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to November 29, giving a rate of 43.3 per 100,000.

Yesterday, 32 cases were recorded in Dorset.

Elsewhere, 13 people tested positive in the New Forest, taking the total to 1,881.

In the seven days leading up to November 29, 68 cases were recorded, meaning the rolling rate stood at 37.8 per 100,000 of the population.
