THE number of new Covid-19 cases recorded in the BCP Council area stand at 90, according to the latest government update.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows 122 new cases were recorded across the whole of Dorset in 24-hours up to 5.12pm on Friday.

Of these, 90 were recorded in the BCP Council area, bringing the total number of cases within the council's boundaries since the start of the pandemic to 8,072.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset Council area 32 cases have been reported in the same 24-hour period.

Since March 3,692 cases have been confirmed.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 361, with a rate of 91.3 per 100,000 of the population. In Dorset 190 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 50.2.

In the New Forest there were 23 new cases. The total in the district since the pandemic started is 2,159. A total of 120 cases have been seen in the past seven days and the case rate is 66.6.
