NEW Covid-19 cases recorded in Dorset total almost 300, according to the latest government update.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows 298 were recorded across the county in the 24-hours up to 4.36pm on Tuesday.

In the BCP area, 193, new cases were reported, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic within the council's boundaries to 9,507.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset Council area 105 cases were reported during the same period.

Since March 4,447 cases have been confirmed within the Dorset Council area.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 887, with a rate of 224.4 per 100,000 of the population. In Dorset 468 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 123.6.

In the New Forest there we 71 new cases. The total in the district since the pandemic started is 2,597.

A total of 281 cases have been seen in the past seven days in the New Forest, where the case rate per 100,000 is 156.
