LARGE waves are currently battering Swanage seafront – where the Environment Agency has warned people to stay away from because of the danger of being swept away.

A Flood Alert is in force for Swanage Bay, meaning flooding is expected and businesses and residents should take immediate action.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: "Strong easterly winds are causing large waves to break over the harbour wall.

"These conditions will continue until late morning."
