A “STUTTERING” driver told police he didn’t know the country was on lockdown before producing a positive cannabis test.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team were around the A31 in East Dorset on Saturday.
They stopped the driver of a Volkswagen Golf after the database showed it had no tax.
A spokesperson for the No Excuse team said: “The Golf was stopped for no tax, but turned out he got some the day before.
“However, on questioning him why he was in Dorset all the way from Hemel Hempstead at 8pm he started to get a bit edgy.
“After a stutter or two he denied any knowledge of a lockdown.
“We also noted the aroma of Cannabis too, hence the reason he was so 'out of it'. The driver provided a positive test and was arrested. He has a previous ban for drug driving.
“After being released whilst we await his results, we ensured that he and his passenger boarded a train back home.”
