THREE drivers were reported to court for travelling at 123mph past police officers.

Officers from the Dorset Police No excuse team seized two vehicles as well as reporting the drivers to court in a busy shift on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson said: “Just after leaving the station, one of our officers was passed by a car averaging 66mph on the Dorset Way, the driver was stopped and discovered to be driving their partner's car with no insurance, vehicle seized.

“Just as that was recovered, another car passed with no tax, in fact it turned out there had been no tax on it for 17 months.

“The driver tearfully claimed they had no money in the bank, but it was clear to the officer they had recently found funds to pay for other non-essential items. Vehicle seized.

“On the Puddletown bypass a little later, an officer conducting static speed checks with a laser were passed by three cars in close convoy travelling at 123mph.

“When the officer caught up with them, they were still travelling together on the bypass at a similar speed. All three drivers were stopped and reported to court.”
