RAIL COMMUTERS in Dorset may experience long delays after disruption on the line at Wareham.

A points failure problem has caused all lines running through the station to be blocked.

Having initailly said that the problem should be be resolved by 7pm, South Western Railway have issued an update saying disruption could last until 9pm.

Trains passing through Wareham will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

South Western Railway are looking into the issues and have apologised to travellers for any delays.

A spokesman from South Western Railway said: “Due to a points failure at Wareham all lines are blocked. 

“Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 8pm.

“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. 

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”

Trains will not run between Poole and Wool. Instead rail replacement buses will run on this routes in both directions, calling at all stations.

Customers looking to use local buses routes to continue your journey have been advised to check Traveline as South Western Railway tickets are not valid during this disruption.
