POLICE issued fines to motorists after they were clocked driving above the speed limit on the Coast Road near Portesham.

A total of four motorists were stopped yesterday on the B3157 Coast Road near Portesham, just north of Abbotsbury.

Police said two of the speeding motorists were issued with fixed penalty notices, while two of the motorists caught travelling over the speed limit were reported to court.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "We spent some of the day on the Coast Road near Portesham yesterday.

"Four cars were stopped for speeding - all local to the area. Two drivers were issued with fixed penalties and two were reported to court.

"The highest speed recorded in the 50 today was 80mph."
