POLICE are warning the public that fraud and scams are becoming increasing complex.

As part of the warning, police have highlighted an online pamphlet called The Little Book of Big Scams, which provides a comprehensive guide on fraud prevention.

Dorset Police said fraudsters are more likely to target the elderly and vulnerable, but warned anyone can fall victim to fraud.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "Fraudsters want your PIN, bank card or cash.

"Fraud is increasingly becoming more complex and deceptive, much of which is targeted at vulnerable and elderly people.

"Fraud can be initiated in many ways including emails, letters, telephone calls or face-to-face contact.

"The Little Book of Big Scams, is primarily aimed at the elderly and vulnerable in society as they are particularly at risk. It provides a comprehensive guide on fraud prevention; explaining some of the most common scams in existence - ranging from the simple to the sophisticated and provides essential advice to reduce the chances of you being parted from your money.

"Although, people from all backgrounds and income levels are targeted by scammers. Anyone can fall victim to fraud."
