WAREHAM Rangers sealed a dramatic extra-time victory in the Dorset Senior Trophy, with a 4-3 success over Chickerell United.

The visitors went ahead in the first five minutes when James Peters headed home from a fine corner from Jack Delves. Peters added a second after 15 minutes.

But Chickerell struck twice in the second period to make it 2-2 after 90 minutes and set up extra-time.

The Chickens then went in front after a deflected shot found the net but Wareham got their equaliser as Peters completed his perfect hat-trick after good work from the tireless Lee Phibbs.

As penalties loomed, Wareham brought on reserve manager Nick Bennett and first-team boss Tom Birch for the experience of the impending shootout.

However, no shootout was needed when manager Birch grabbed the winner on 120 minutes with an instinctive striker’s finish.

Meanwhile, Swanage Town & Herston suffered a comprehensive 4-0 Dorset Senior Trophy defeat at Day's Park against holders Merley Cobham Sports.

The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute when Alan Marsh lobbed home keeper Bradley Smith.

And Swans suffered a double blow at the start of the second half, conceding two goals in the 46th and 48th minutes, courtesy of Elliot Rossiter and Marsh, who completed his brace.

The cup tie was virtually over as a contest and Nathan Walker secured the win in the 75th minute with a header.
