BELLE Construction continued their domination of the South & West League Premier Division with an emphatic 80-36 win over Coastal Cheese.

Belle made a quick start to the game, with some swift turnovers, slick transition to goal and great movement in the circle from shooters Ashleigh and Jaimee Browne.

Coastal worked hard and attempted to fight back, but it was a dominant first quarter from table toppers Belle.

In the second quarter, Belle’s attack picked up where it left off, with C Charlie Nearger moving the ball quickly in the attacking third. Coastal GS Carla Harper, however, came alive this quarter and was consistently available, and accurate, under the post.

In the second half, Coastal continued to fight back with brilliant overhead feeds into their GS, however accurate passing and speed from Belle saw them stretch their lead.

The final quarter got off to a rocky start after a head injury to one of Belle’s defenders. Once they settled after this, Belle continued their dominance.

Coastal brought on some younger players in the break, who were well supported and encouraged by their teammates. In the end, it was a well-executed game from Belle who took a big win.

WJNC WARRIORS 31

WJNC Warriors edged Cresta Leisure 31-25 in this Division One clash.

In the first quarter, there was excellent movement around the circle by Warriors GS Georgia Pearson, while Cresta C Kate Patton moved really nicely around court, finding great space and taking interceptions in the midcourt.

Competitive play from both sides made for a close first quarter.

The accurate shooting from Warriors continued in the second quarter, but some equally good determination from Cresta meant the score stayed close going into half time.

Cresta picked off several rebounds at the start of the second half, however there was also some great defence from Warriors GD Becka Hicks.

This was a strong quarter from Warriors, as they began to pull away on the scoreboard. Cresta, however, didn’t go down without a fight.

They put the pressure on Warriors in the final quarter, both defensively and with their consistent shooting. Warriors ultimately managed to hold strong and take the win.

PORTLAND PIRATES 69

SANDSFOOT SIRENS 11

PORTLAND Pirates sealed a resounding 69-11 win over Sandsfoot Sirens in Division Two.

Both teams started well in this inter-club game, particularly the shooters who were on form from the first shot. Some strong passes and great teamwork in attack from Portland saw them take a solid lead going into half-time.

Sandsfoot continued to demonstrate high levels of positivity in the third quarter, which worked well for them as their play improved throughout the second half.

In the final quarter, despite some great determination from the Sandsfoot defence, Portland ended the game the stronger team.
