WEYMOUTH have set a target of taking seven points in the next four Vanarama National League games, manager Brian Stock has revealed.

The Terras now lie 21st and in the bottom three after Southend drew 1-1 with Maidenhead on Tuesday.

Weymoth had begun a quest to eat into their target before the 2-1 loss to Torquay, meaning Weymouth now have one game less to reach their aim.

Weymouth’s next four league games come at Wrexham, plus home and away to Eastleigh either side of a trip to rivals Yeovil.

Taking seven points would round off 2021 nicely, however Stock said the target would spill into the next block of games should the points tally prove greater or worse than that pursued.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “We’ve set a short-term target within the group over the next games – obviously we want to accumulate those points as quick as we can.

“Whether that’s a home win against Torquay or an away win against Wrexham, it’s important we accumulate those points.

“We’ve not highlighted where we should pick up points, it’s just trying to achieve that points tally in order to give us enough to stay in this league.”

Pushed on an exact points target, Stock added: “So we want seven as a minimum, including (Torquay).

“So that leaves us four games now to try and achieve seven points. If we don’t it just makes the next short-term target either increased or decreased (depending on results).

“If we fell behind, we’d need to accumulate more points in the next block.”

Asked if the Terras’ board had projected the points target onto the team, Stock replied: “No, not at all.”
