The community at Emmanuel Church, Southill, in Weymouth is beginning to collect photographs and memories from 50 years ago when building of the church commenced.

On March, 18, 1972, the first ground was broken to begin the building of the church which opened on April 14, 1973.

Echo readers are being asked if they have any photos or memories of the church being built or might remember these photographs or indeed be in them.

The church community has the names of the clergy present and the mayor of the time but is wondering who the children are, particularly the guides. They are also wondering, who is the girl standing where the church is now?

In preparation for celebrations during the next 12 months and especially next March and April, they would be delighted to receive any information and/or photographs people might have, either through the Echo pages by contacting 01305 830973 or through the dedicated email address emmanuelsouthill@ramr.church
