SWANAGE Town & Herston’s miserable run of form continued following their sixth consecutive defeat, a 5-1 loss at Blandford United.

The Royals showed their intent in the Dorset Premier League contest, as Mark Ford fired over when well placed in the first minute.

The hosts took the lead after 15 minutes through Archie McCarthy and William Arnett doubled the advantage on 30 minutes, with the Royals in control.

Blandford then effectively killed off the game just two minutes after the restart when Reuben Stanley scored his side's third.

Good interchanges between Charlie Brassington and Sam Beale opened up the Blandford defence, but it was Swans’ keeper Sam Willcocks who rescued his side with a couple of smart saves.

Beale reduced the arrears for Swans with a fine header following a Brassington corner, and again went close with a good effort which just flashed wide.

Beale was then denied by the Blandford keeper Tyler Disson when clean through, as Swans looked to get back into the contest.

However Steve Smith put his side 4-1 ahead which destroyed any hopes of a comeback and to rub salt in the wound Ford added the fifth in the final minute to condemn Swans to their sixth consecutive loss.

Elsewhere in the division, Wareham Rangers were beaten 1-0 away at Balti Sports – their 20th league defeat of the campaign.

Bottom side Corfe Castle were beaten 2-0 away at Bournemouth Sports.
