SWANAGE Town & Herston suffered a 4-1 defeat against Balti Sports at Day's Park in the Dorset Premier League.

Swans made a disastrous start in the first minute when Charlie Dyke sliced his attempted clearance into his own net past the surprised keeper Ben Hodder.

The hosts then settled and played some neat and constructive football, however the visitors doubled their lead on 10 minutes through Danny Andrews, exploiting a mistake by the Swans defence.

Swans did not deserve to be two goals in arrears and went close through Charlie Brassington and Paul Best.

The hosts were now on top and just failed to open their account through Jack Hector and Brassington, who was denied by a good save from Balti's keeper Andy Nott.

Swans were again producing good football but lacked the cutting edge required to trouble the visitors and fell further behind when Scott Walker added the third for the visitors.

Jake Streams went close to reducing the arrears but his fierce shot brought out the best from Balti stopper Nott.

Brassington gave his side a glimmer of hope when he struck a free-kick from just outside the box to reduce the deficit.

Balti put the game to bed and secured the points when the lively Andrews completed his brace, capitalising on a Swans defensive mistake.

The result meant Swanage have now fallen to an eighth consecutive defeat.

Meanwhile, Wareham Rangers fell to a 4-1 defeat to Merley Cobham Sports at Purbeck Sports Centre.

Michael Trim, Lee Wilkins and Matthew Groves all found the net for Cobham, as well as former Swan Ogun Gundogdu.

Elsewhere, Corfe Castle were beaten 4-2 at home against Sturminster Newton United at the Fortress.
