A GROUP of travellers have set up an encampment alongside a popular park in Whitecliff.
BCP Council says it is aware of an unauthorised encampment consisting of seven living units in the car park alongside at Whitecliff Harbourside Park in Poole and are liaising with Dorset Police.
A council spokesperson said: “Our staff have visited site to carry out the statutory welfare and educational needs assessment, along with any necessary risk assessments in order to determine the level of support to be given to the group. We are liaising with Dorset Police.
“We will be visiting, liaising with and monitoring the site going forward.”
This comes soon after the authority admitted it has no plans to introduce any designated transit sites for travellers in the region for the summer period.
