Bournemouth has experienced some very hot weather early this week, as much of the UK struggled with temperatures in the mid-30s.

Additionally, the UK documented its hottest ever temperature, with 40.2C provisionally recorded at London Heathrow, the Met Office said.

The threshold was hit at 12.50pm as much of the UK sweltered in a heatwave, with parts of England and Wales under a red warning for extreme heat.

Bournemouth itself has avoided the very worst of the temperatures, with it ranging in the high 20s, and that is set to dip very slightly for the remainder of the week.

Bournemouth weather forecast for the rest of the week

Wednesday, July 20

Bournemouth will experience a mixture of sunny and overcast weather on Wednesday, with a very small chance of rain.

Temperatures will peak at 23C between 5pm and 7pm, and will remain in the low 20s throughout much of the day.

Thursday, July 21

Thursday is set to be more consistently sunny than Wednesday, but will be similar in the fact it will peak at 23C in the early evening.

Friday, July 22

There will be a mixture of sun and overcast weather on Friday, plus the likelihood of rain between 1pm and 7pm.

Met Office says there is a 30% chance of rain in that time, and the maximum temperature that will be experienced is 22C.

Saturday, July 23

Saturday will mostly be sunny, after a slight overcast stretch in the morning. Temperatures are expected to peak at 22C.

Sunday, July 24

Finally, Sunday will be consistently sunny throughout the day, also with a maximum temperature of 22C.
