AUSSIE ace Jack Holder admitted he had been “devastated” to miss out on the British Grand Prix final but was keen to take the positives from his display.

The former Pirates star, now riding in the Premiership with Sheffield, totalled 12 points from his first five rides to put him in a strong position with gate choice heading into the semi-final.

But having failed to track down championship leader Bartosz Zmarzlik and title-chasing Leon Madsen, the 26-year-old bowed out before the final.

Assessing his night’s work, Holder said: “Devastated.

“I made the right choice by going off gate two (in the semi-final) but Leon guessed that one (start) then he could hang on for four laps.

“Very disappointing but I will take some positives from this and I showed them that I could get round any track.”

Holder had 2010 Cardiff winner and Pirates hero, elder brother Chris, helping him at the event, with some more of his family in attendance for support.

“Mum and dad and girlfriend were here, so that was a lot of pressure on myself to do good,” he added.

“I made the semi but when you are going all right you want that final.”

Britain’s Dan Bewley won the event by beating Zmarzlik, Patryk Dudek and Madsen in the final, becoming the first British winner of the event since 2007.
