A WELL-loved barbershop celebrating 20 years of trims - Blades is Trader of the Week.

Blades is a traditional barbershop that prides itself on covering all styles, staying up to date with modern looks, and providing a luxury pamper experience for customers.

It was introduced to Highcliffe in September 2002 by Tracey Carter, a Christchurch resident who had trained as a hairdresser and beauty therapist before moving into barbering.

She said: “I had been a barber for a couple of years, I hadn’t really thought about having my own shop, it was something that just felt into my lap to be honest.

“The shop became available, and it felt right.”

Almost twenty years later, the Highcliffe shop remains a popular spot for a trim, and boasts a strong team of skilled barbers.

In celebration of the landmark birthday, the Blades team closed the shop for a week in August whilst it was treated to a refurbishment.

It was transformed into a trendy space, with stunning wood panels added to the walls, new flooring, and a new section for hair washing.

Tracey said: “The shop did need a bit of a re-do, but we thought it would be a good thing to do for the 20 years. I’ve managed to secure a new lease on it too.

"Male grooming is a huge thing now. It's not just a barber shop its moved more into male grooming. I think chaps do see it as a bit of a pamper so its nice for them to be able to come down and feel a nice atmosphere

“We’ve had some really good feedback so far. Everyone really likes it.”
