ALL flying at the Bournemouth Air Festival this evening has been cancelled.

In a statement from the organisers on social media, it was confirmed that tonight’s Night Air displays will not go ahead.

Crowds were due to see a Typhoon, the Firebirds, Otto the Helicopter and the Tigers FFT Parachute Display Team, between 7.45pm and 8.40pm.

However, due to poor weather conditions that earlier saw displays cancelled and a truncated Red Arrows display, the decision was made to cancel the evening’s flying.

Jon Weaver, festival director said: “We are very sorry to say that due to the intense prevailing weather system coming in over the next hours, the decision has been agreed that we are unable to go ahead with any flying displays for this evening.

“The weather hasn’t been great and really challenging today and we appreciate the patience of the people who did make it down. The safety of flying display participants and the public is always at the forefront of our decision making.

“We now look forward to three more days of fantastic entertainment in the air and on the ground when the weather is looking considerably more welcoming.”
