THE Bournemouth team behind a coffee business’ 'blockbusting' new website has been recognised for its work.

JD Ecommerce has scooped the ‘Food and Drink Ecommerce Website of the Year’ award at the UK eCommerce Awards for the website they designed for a speciality coffee roaster.

The team, based at Lansdowne in Bournemouth and in Ukraine, created the new webstore for Wood St Coffee Roasters, which went live in November last year.

JD Ecommerce say the coffee company has almost doubled its subscriber base and had a remarkable 43 per cent revenue growth for non-subscription sales in the eight months after the website went live, compared to the same period the previous year.

Judges at the awards described the website and growth as “really impressive”.

Jamie Derrick, managing director of JD Ecommerce, said: “We are over the moon to have won this award, especially given the really strong submissions from the other nine finalists in this category.

“I am so proud of what we’ve created, and the impact it’s had for our clients - especially as I’m personally such a big fan of speciality coffee.

"We were very much coming from the perspective of what an end consumer would want and experience from a website.

"It just goes to prove that getting into the mind of the end consumer is vitally important in building a successful eCommerce site.”

The team at JD Ecommerce, led by Jamie, was tasked with creating a new user-friendly website which would help Wood St Coffee Roasters to deliver more conversions, subscriptions, better retention and an improved customer experience.

The website features video ‘brew guides’ to help customers get the perfect cup of coffee, an interactive coffee picker and a ‘subscription builder’ tool, while QR codes on the coffee packaging connect customers to information pages.

Gareth Reid, co-owner of Wood St Coffee Roasters, said: “I love what Jamie and his team have done for us with our website, but more importantly our customers love it – and they’re showing us how much through increased orders and subscriptions and increased loyalty.

“To see the website win this prestigious award is testament to the fantastic job Jamie has done for us.”
