THE CLOSURE of a Poole hotel has left a bride-to-be 'shocked and devastated'.

Anne Chilcott from Poole said her dream wedding was ruined after Poole Quay Hotel unexpectedly closed.

Anne, 54, and her fiancé, Les Way, 55, were planning to get married at the hotel on June 15, 2024.

The couple found out about the sudden closure through a social media post.

Anne said: "When I found out that the hotel had closed, I just sat there completely shocked.

"I didn't know what to do or say, and I couldn't believe it."

With the wedding just under three months away, the couple had arranged overnight guests to stay at the venue, a DJ and also bought a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses.

Anne said: "The way we had organised it was our dream wedding; it was exactly what we wanted, and now we are looking at having to postpone it for a year."

The Poole Quay Hotel hasn't responded to Anne's calls and emails despite holding a £4,000 deposit, which she needs to book another venue.

She said: "It is bad enough that our wedding has been cancelled, but for them to not even contact me and give an explanation is disgusting."

"It's absolutely disgraceful that they haven't even reached out to apologise.

"We can't find another venue for an affordable price, especially without the £4,000 deposit, which we haven't had back."

The hotel officially closed on March 21 after a sign posted on the door read: "With immediate effect, we regret to inform you that Poole Quay Hotel is now closed until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

The notice said any questions should be directed to MHA Burleigh Poole Ltd, the developer behind the new build. The Echo has approached MHA for more details.

Anne at Les met online and have been together for 15 years.

Anne added: "This situation has devastated us; they have ruined our dream of a seaside wedding.

"There is no getting over this."
