AN AWARD- winning pub where staff ‘go the extra mile’ for their customers - The Pure Drop is our Pub of the Week.

Located in Ferndown, the pub is described as a ‘warm, welcoming pub with great atmosphere.’

Frances Brabant has been the landlady at The Pure Drop for two years and says she helped turn the venue around.

She said: “I’ve put my heart and soul into the pub, and now it’s always buzzing and full of people.”

The Pure Drop prides itself on being a community pub with a range of entertainment spread across the week.

Monday is bingo night; on Thursday, the pub turns into Caesars Palace, hosting a poker night; on the last Friday of every month is karaoke, where guests are invited to perform their favourite songs. On Sunday, there is a weekly pub quiz.

On the second Friday of each month, the pub gets everyone dancing with DJ nights.

Frances said: “We move the tables, and it becomes a big dance floor.

“They can get quite manic, but it’s the perfect space for everyone.”

The pub was awarded the best pub in Dorset for 2024 and will compete for regional and national titles later in the year.

When asked about the venue’s success, Francis said: “It’s a bit mind-blowing that after all the hard work we’ve put in, it has paid off.

“I have worked in hospitality since I was 15, so I understand the passion and community it takes to make a pub successful.

“It’s the little things that the team do; we go above and beyond for all our guests and make everyone feel at home.”

The pub also has a large, secure beer garden where the adults can relax and the kids can run around and play.

In the summer, Frances said they plan to host live music outside in the sun.

When it comes to food, the pub offers traditional ‘good quality’ pub grub at reasonable prices, catering for all dietary requirements.

Frances boasts a ‘huge selection of drinks’ and provides alcohol-free options for guests.
