If you’re looking for astute observations, cunning insight or political satire, then Sean Lock probably isn’t for you. He’s one of those comedians who exudes randomness from every pore (“when I found out I was coming to Poole, I was like a tramp who’d been given a fiver”).

After one particular routine and punch line, Lock says, with some pride that “You don’t get punch lines like that every day. Not a lot of my material tends to get stolen.” Sean reminisced about growing up in the 70s (“diets of mints and orange squash”) and discussed the state of his car now that he has three children.

As is his way, it wouldn’t be Sean Lock without a bit of a rant, and on the receiving end was twitter and popular phrases that he just doesn’t like (“credit crunch”).

It’s hard to describe his act as the randomness of it often leaves you with a sense of “what on earth is going on?” And this never more apparent than his final routine as he gives his own take on Madonna’s dance moves, complete with Aussie accent (“I can’t do accents!”).

All in all I thought it was a bit of an odd gig that raised a lot of smirks, but for me, nothing side splittingly funny.
