Viewers of The Great British Bake Off were in for some drama this evening (October 10) as one contestant made a huge mistake.

The blunder saw contestant Dana from Essex break the glass mixing bowl seeing it smash all over her worktop.

Mixing her bread mix for the first of three takes in the third week of the competition show, the strength of the dough seemed to cause the bowl to smash.

Hearing the smashing, Dana ran to the bowl to stop the mixer from creating any more damage to the area.

Great British Bake Off viewers react as baker smashes glass bowl

Viewers of the Channel 4 show were quick to share their reactions as many took to X, formally Twitter.

One avid watcher said: "Smashing job Dana" making a light situation out of the broken bowl.

Whilst another added: "She’s not the first to break a bowl" referencing the few times others have faced the dilemma of a broken bowl.

Dana's broken bowl was not the only thing that got Bake Off viewers talking about her, as she shared she would be calling her bread, "Breadly Cooper" in reference to the Hollywood actor best known for appearing in The Hangover movies.

When it came to judges' comments, Dana was told by Paul Hollywood that "it is a bit doughy but the flavours are good."

Ahead of appearing on Bake Off, Dana shared that her passion for baking started when she was 16.

Now with her own kitchen, Dana likes to create rustic and homely bakes that are always pleasing to the eye.
