ENTRIES are being invited for this year's Championship of Dorset, due to take place at Isle of Purbeck Golf Club at the end of July.

The men's amateur event is part of the Trilby Tour, which takes in venues such as Northumberland GC and Carus Green GC.

Qualifying events at Isle of Purbeck will take place on May 12, June 14, June 24 and July 14 at a cost of £45 per person.

Players must have a maximum handicap of 18 and qualifiers will be contested over one round of 18 holes.

A series of regional championships – including at Isle of Purbeck GC – will be played in front of the Sky cameras in order to determine the top 10 who will compete in the international grand final, set to take place at Hull GC at the end of August.

The Trilby Tour was launched in 2007 and was the brainchild golf aficionado and Savile Row designer William Hunt, who wanted to give amateurs the thrill of competing in a pro format.

The picturesque Isle of Purbeck course was designed by legendary architect Harry Colt and is consistently ranked among the top 100 courses in Britain.

The course dates back to 1892 with its superb coastal views one a notable attraction for players.
