SWANAGE & Wareham succumbed 34-7 at Blandford in a bottom-of-the-table clash in Southern Counties South.

Playing against a strong wind and with snow falling intermittently, Swans were soon under pressure.

The defence held out for a quarter of an hour but Blandford took the lead with a catch-and-drive move from a lineout.

Three minutes later, a pushover try from a scrum had the hosts 10-0 up.

A couple of penalties allowed Swans to make inroads and after 30 minutes, number eight Kirk Jones dived over. Steve Woolley added the extras.

With the final move of the half, Blandford forced their way over for a converted try, meaning they led 17-7.

Swans had the wind in their favour after the restart but a couple of scrums went against the head and Blandford took control.

After a couple of penalties were conceded by Swans, the home side bulldozed over for another converted try.

Swans continued to give away penalties and Blandford controlled the scrum, with Swans having no answer.

With 72 minutes on the clock, Blandford forced their way through to score in the corner.

Putting the polish on victory, they again touched down in the corner in the dying embers.
