PAUL Best scored a hat-trick and was sent off as Swanage Town & Herston triumphed 4-2 against Dorchester Sports in the Dorset Premier League.

The hosts took the lead after 18 minutes thanks to a terrific goal from Best, the skipper chipping the keeper with a measured shot.

Swans doubled their advantage just before the break when Best headed home a cross.

New signing Charles Daries was brought on for the second half and he took just minutes to make an impact, setting up Best for his hat-trick.

However, Swans took their foot off the pedal and allowed Dorchester back into the game, the visitors scoring two goals in as many minutes.

But with a minute left, the home supporters’ fears were eased when Daries finished well.

The polish was taken off the win after Best was harshly dismissed for a challenge on Dorchester defender Pat Thomas.

Elsewhere, Wareham Rangers succumbed 3-0 at home to Portland United reserves.

Corfe Castle were beaten 3-1 at home by Blandford in the Dorset Senior Trophy.
