SKIPPER Ryan Norman led from the front with the ball as Swanage cruised to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Dorset Division One rivals Compton House.

The Swans captain wiped out three of the top-four Compton batsmen to return impressive figures of three for 21 from his nine overs. He also bagged himself a run-out.

Opener Michael Harper (51) was the only Compton batsmen to pass 20 before he was removed by Norman, as Swans won the toss and elected to field first.

Wickets were shared around for the visitors as Compton House were restricted to a modest 156 for eight from 44 overs.

With the game interrupted due to rain, Swans were set a revised target with the bat – needing 129 for victory from 32 overs.

And the visitors knocked off their target with 14 overs of their innings remaining.

Openers Tom Salmon (46) and John Lewis (36) got the Day’s Park outfit off to a solid start, while Simon Goldsack (23no) and Ben Hodder (4no) saw the game to its conclusion.

Swans’ success is their third victory from six games this season. They sit level on points with seventh-placed Compton House on 74.

Norman’s men host fourth-placed Cerne Valley on Saturday.
