DAN and Tom Salmon starred with bat and ball for Swanage during their eight-wicket home victory over Dorset Division One rivals Hamworthy Recreation.

Dan Salmon picked up four for 19 before Tom Salmon struck a blistering 78 from 44 deliveries in the chase.

Victory was the Day’s Park side’s seventh success from 11 games this season.

Having lost the toss and been asked to field first, Swans were made to wait for the opening breakthrough, with Rec’s Steve Clifford (20) and Sean Mulley (26) putting on 50 for the first wicket.

But when Clifford was caught by Dan Salmon off the bowling of Craig Wells (2-27), the floodgates opened as Swans’ bowlers got to work.

Dan Salmon did the majority of the damage as the visitors were reduced to 118 for eight.

A late contribution from Nathan Peters (24no) helped Hamworthy reach 157 for nine from their 45 overs.

And Swans got off to a flyer with the bat in reply as they knocked off their victory target in just 19 overs.

Ollie Shrubsole (38) helped Ryan Norman’s side to an opening stand of 102 before he fell to Peters (1-30).

Simon Goldsack (10no) and Dan Salmon (8no) saw Swanage over the line. Norman’s troops now third in the table behind Compton House and unbeaten leaders Cattistock.
