DAN Salmon’s devastating unbeaten knock paved the way for Swanage to seal a commanding eight-wicket win over Broadstone II.

The Swanage all-rounder smashed 72 from just 37 deliveries as Swanage racked up their ninth Dorset Division One win of the campaign.

Having lost the toss and been asked to field first at Delph Woods, Swans set to work quickly – reducing the hosts to 14 for three.

And while Broadstone recovered through Iain Griffiths (29) and Charlie Groves (30), the visitors eventually skittled them out for a meagre 126 from 35.4 overs.

Mike Hernandez (3-13) was the pick of Swans’ attack, while skipper Ryan Norman (3-35), Salmon (2-14), Steve Kent (1-26) and Craig Wells (1-31) also chipped in.

And despite Swanage falling to 30 for two in reply after the loss of Ollie Shrubsole – Salmon and Simon Goldsack (30) set to work.

The former’s superb innings included 12 fours and three sixes to propel the visitors to their victory target after just 19.1 overs.

n In football, Swanage suffered a 4-2 defeat to Purbeck rivals Wareham Rangers in the Haxell Cup final at Purbeck Sports Centre.

They did however regain the Jimmy Hollywood Cup from Corfe Castle at Day's Park with a 2-1 victory.
