SWANAGE were left shaken after suffering a colossal 8-1 defeat to Hamworthy Recreation in the Dorset Premier League.

The Day’s Park outfit found themselves 4-1 down at the interval, with Rec doubling their tally following the break to record their third win in as many games.

Visitors Rec were out of the blocks much quicker and were soon ahead with two goals in the first 10 minutes through Sam Carter and Carl Edwards.

Swanage skipper Paul Best then struck his fifth goal in three games from with a long-range effort to give his side some hope at 2-1.

But this proved to be in vain as the league leaders struck twice more through Carter, who completed his hat-trick before the break.

In a further blow for Swans, Elliot Parslow sustained a hamstring injury and was replaced by Garan Bennett.

Just a minute into the second half Carter struck again.

Further goals from John Webb and George Webb (2) secured a comprehensive win for the defending champions.

Elsewhere in the division, Corfe Castle were hammered 8-2 at Dorchester Sports, while Wareham Rangers were beaten 5-3 at Gillingham Town.
