SWANAGE suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Westland Sports in the Dorset Premier League

The visitors struggled to produce many clear-cut chances in the first half at Alvington against the combination of a strong wind and Westland's high press.

Swans went behind after 30 minutes, conceding a penalty for a push in the box which Jamie Green despatched for Westland.

Visiting keeper Ben Hodder produced a couple of smart saves to deny the home side and, at the other end, Aaron Atkinson created a few good chances with Ogun Gundogdu going close.

Swanage had the lion's share of possession in the second half but failed to create many chances.

George Sparrow and Atkinson went close from long range and skipper Paul Best had his long-range shot saved by Mark Cuff.

The hosts were always dangerous on the break, however Andy Bartlett and Jamie Harlow in the centre of Swans’ defence always looked commanding.

But both sides tired in the last 15 minutes and Swans were left to ponder a defeat which left them 11th in the table.

Meanwhile, goals from Iain Kay and Matt Suttle proved not enough for Corfe Castle, as they fell to a 4-2 home defeat to Bridport reserves.

Riley Weedon bagged a hat-trick and Ryan Leader also struck for the Bees.
