WILL Prior’s dazzling double helped pave the way for Swanage Town & Herston’s seventh Dorset Premier League victory of the campaign.

The former Wimborne man’s brace along with a goal from Paul Best meant the hosts saw off Blandford United 3-0 at Day’s Park.

Prior put his side ahead with a neat finish after 15 minutes, following a good pass from Best.

Joe Clark then went close with a long range shot before the break, as the hosts went in a goal to the good at the interval.

Swans looked more confident in the second half and put the game beyond Blandford with two goals just short of the hour mark.

Prior’s neat touch put top scorer Best through for his 20th goal of the season.

And Best returned the compliment with a fine cross to set up Prior to score with a strong header to complete his brace.

And the home side finished the game comfortably to record a comprehensive win and a clean sheet.

Victory put Swans on to 23 points from 18 league games played. They are 10th in the table, four behind ninth-placed Holt United with two games in hand.

Swans make the trip to fourth-placed Gillingham Town on Saturday.

Elsewhere, bottom side Wareham Rangers went down 4-2 at home to unbeaten Hamworthy Recreation.
