SWANAGE missed their opportunity to head back into the Dorset Premier League top-10 after a 2-1 defeat against Holt United.

Played on Blandford’s 3G pitch, Swans took the lead after three minutes when Ogun Gundogdu headed on a corner which Tommy Beard finished off in style with a neat header.

Will Prior then beat a couple of players and fired a precise cross which Paul Best narrowly missed as the visitors applied further pressure.

The Bulls gradually secured a foothold in the game and Swans keeper Dan Beeston produced a couple of smart saves to deny them the equaliser.

However Beeston misjudged a free-kick for the home side’s leveller as the sides went in level at the break.

But Swans struggled in the second half, mishitting passes and losing the ball on the plastic pitch.

Holt looked increasingly dangerous on the break. The hosts scored their second which turned out to be the winning goal from close range when Swans failed to clear.

Swans produced one more chance when Prior beat his man and produced a great cross but his fellow forwards were unable to supply the finishing touch.

Elsewhere in the division, Corfe Castle suffered a 2-1 defeat at Portland United reserves.

Defeat left Castle 10th in the table, one place and one point above Swans. Wareham Rangers lost 4-3 at Shaftesbury Town reserves.
