SWANAGE & Wareham ladies ensured top spot in Hampshire Division Four earlier this month with an impressive 3-0 away win at West Meon.

It took a while for the deadlock to be broken but 10 minutes before the end of the first half Amy Lucas scored from an impressive short corner for the visitors.

Despite a miss from a penalty in the first half, Swans’ top goalscorer Liz Solomon scored two quick goals to seal three points and promotion.

Swans have accumulated 55 points from 20 league games this season.

Meanwhile, Swanage & Wareham’s ladies second team sealed a 4-2 home victory over Gosport seconds. Despite an early setback when Gosport scored in the first two minutes, Swans fought back well, levelling up in the latter part of the first half with goal scored from a short corner by Harriet Austen-Bowerman.

Gosport quickly replied with a goal in the dying seconds of the first half to lead 2-1.

Swans started the second half well with Austen-Bowerman scoring a solo effort. The hosts quickly followed up with a third goal from Georgie Morris.

Austen-Bowerman netted her hat-trick and the final goal for Swans by neatly putting the ball in to the top left corner.

Captain Katie Young said: “I couldn’t have asked more of the team.

“It was a well-deserved win and ensures our survival in Division Six."
