RYAN Stearn took a sublime hat-trick as Swanage swept aside Hamworthy Recreation by 128 runs in the Dorset Cricket League Cup.

Swans batted first and started well through John Lewis and Mike Nash.

When Nash fell for a fluent 27, Lewis was joined by Mike Hernandez and together they also added a half-century stand before Lewis fell for an excellent 44.

Hernandez who, well supported by the lower order, was finally dismissed for an exquisite 66 but not before he had helped guide his side to 232 for nine at close.

In reply, Hamworthy were soon in trouble due to some brilliant bowling by Hernandez.

Their progress was halted still further by the in-form leg-spin sensation Steve Kent, who took 4 quick wickets.

He was ably supported by Stearn, who also claimed four wickets including a match-ending hat-trick as Hamworthy were skittled for 109.
