SWANS returned home with three valuable Dorset Premier League points following a 1-0 win against Portland United reserves.

The away side took the lead in the 11th minute when Charlie Brassington slotted home following a superb run and cross by Neemo Nixon.

The Blues keeper then produced a great save to deny Nixon from doubling the lead following a fierce shot.

Brassington then slipped a great pass to Ocean Smith but again the home keeper came to the hosts’ rescue with a superb save.

The second half was a story of missed chances and great goalkeeping with Paul Best, Nixon, Smith and Barnes all missing the target when well placed.

However, Swans keeper Dan Beeston produced a miraculous save to keep the lead intact.

Brassington had a great chance to double the advantage but his fierce volley was somehow saved as the contest remained in the balance.

Swans had a nervous final five minutes with Jamie Harlowe heading off the line and Ogun Gundogdu superbly marshalling the defence, enabling the visiting Swans to gain three points.

Meanwhile, Swans reserves suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Balti Sports reserves in the Dorset Intermediate Cup.

Matt Dunster scored a consolation goal with a superb long-range effort following good work from Flo Bujour.

But it proved not enough as the hosts bowed out of the competition.
