WIMBORNE were left wondering how they came away from Ladysmead without at least a point, beaten 1-0 by Tiverton Town.

Slack marking at a free-kick in time added-on at the end of the first half allowed the hosts to score the only goal of the game, through Olaf Koszela, while the Magpies could not convert any of their good chances, reports Graham Dunn.

Manager James Stokoe made one change - Charlie Gunson starting for the injured Ben Scorey.

After a promising start for the visitors, their goalkeeper Billy Terrell was called into action to deny Koszela, while Gunson and Dan Cann were impressing at the top end of the pitch.

Curtis Young went close to breaking the deadlock, before Lewis Beale fired over when through one-on-one.

Just three minutes later the Magpies had another good opportunity, this time Gunson, from the right corner of the box, pulled his shot wide of the far post.

After Koszela had fired a stinging shot wide, Harry Morgan drove forward but could not find the target, and substitute Addwell Chipangura could only head Jamie Henry's free-kick wide.

Dan Strugnell made a necessary clearing header before his defence succumbed deep into time added-on at the end of the half.

Having been awarded a soft free-kick, the perfectly flighted ball was nodded down for Koszela to poke home on the rebound after Terrell had made a save.

Tiverton took that momentum into the second period, and for the next quarter had the better of the game.

On 56 minutes Terrell, under pressure, couldn't hold a high cross and the rebound was fired wide, Koszela made space to fire wide and Dan Hayfield's low shot was well-saved.

At the mid-point of the half, Terrell made a super save with his feet from Louis Morrison.

During this period Wimborne's best effort came from the elusive Morgan who rode through a variety of challenges before firing into the side-netting.

For the final 20 minutes, Wimborne grabbed control. Billy Maybury's shot from distance was blocked, before the rebound was easily saved.

Young had the next shot which was also blocked, then Strugnell's diagonal gave Chipangura the chance to force a sprawling save from goalkeeper Lewis Williams.

Tivvy were reduced to 10 men for the closing stages as Theo Simpson was forced off injured with all subs having already been made.

Magpies smelled blood with the extra man, but could not quite force the equaliser.

Wimborne stay second-from-bottom of the Southern Premier South table.
