CHRIS Park led a successful rear-guard action as Bournemouth fended off the last 22 overs to secure a draw from their ECB Southern Premier Division visit to Totton & Eling at Southern Gardens.

Prospects were bleak for the Lions when they dipped to 106-8 in reply to Totton's 222 all out, writes Mike Vimpany.

But Park struck a resilient 87 and with Cole Rushworth (31 not out) added a crucial 88 - the ninth wicket partnership only being ended by Park's run out at the start of the penultimate over.

Rushworth and last man Oli Breckon successfully defended the remaining 11 balls as Bournemouth reached 195-9 at stumps.

Park, Bournemouth's captain, struck 11 boundaries in his 126-ball stay at the crease, left-arm spinner Brighton Mugochi taking 4-50 in a 15-over stint.

Bournemouth were in the driving seat during the morning session, Breckon (5-31), with a maiden Premier League five-wicket haul, and Tom Robinson (2-35) reducing Totton to 82-5.

But Harry Stephens (47) and Mugochi (36) turned the tide before falling in quick succession to the left-arm of Tom Willoughby (3-44), after which Billy Lightfoot (36) and Josh Taylor (35) eased the hosts to 222 all out.

Parley totalled 268, but went down by 11 runs to Fawley, Tom Jacques top scoring with 47.
